I have seen them forgotten for the most part in the new generation. They are a great band to listen to because they can rock hard like led zepplin or play soft relaxing songs like pink floyd based on which of they’r 3 singers is singing. They are a top 25 band and hope they won’t be forgotten in this generation

I don’t like giving most of my business to one company. That used to be called a monopoly, which I have detested for 40 years or more. However, Amazon had been the one place I can count on having what I want, delivering it in a timely manner, and having pretty good customer service. (it could be a bit better…heck I used to teach customer service). So, you won me over years ago. Adding the music option helps cement the relationship.
Don Henley of the Eagles wanted to write a song about life in Los Angeles, California, particularly its emphasis on fame, hedonism and money. Henley wrote, “It’s basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream and about excess in America, which is something we knew a lot about.” Henley wanted the song, decidedly somber, and played in harmonic minor, seem like an episode of the Twilight Zone, which it certainly does. Apparently the song worked on many levels, because it won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. And the dueling guitars coda was rated the greatest guitar solo by Guitarist magazine in 1998.
Tried a classic alternative format in ’93 – ’94. A little soon, perhaps, but it was met with a strong positive reaction by listeners who had a modern rock station in their market but didn’t listen to them anymore because they did not like grunge. As Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc… dominated modern rock station playlists, these listeners had nowhere to go. These “80’s cutting edge” listeners were not so cutting edge anymore with the turn of the decade (not to mention, when MTV wasn’t playing grunge, they were playing rap). I have noticed that classic alternative works pretty well as a cornerstone in a Triple AAA but as a standalone format itself, I believe you are correct Mr. Jacobs.
During their time Queen was one of the wildly famous rock bands, with their concerts selling millions around the world and their singles enjoying huge commercial success. Despite the astronomical success, Queen still strived to experiment with their sound especially during the early 1980s. Their charismatic founder and front man Freddie Mercury was struck by AIDS and eventually died from complications in 1991.
It’s impossible not to include the Rolling Stones in this list of classic rock artists. With over 50 years in the business and still going, the Rolling Stones are obviously a living testimony to rock music’s staying power.
Dubbed as an anthem for apathetic kids, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is arguably Nirvana’s greatest hit and perhaps the greatest one of Grunge or alternative rock. It’s so popular, even now, that college marching bands sometimes play it. Moreover, the intro guitar lick, played with power chords, has become one of the most iconic riffs in rock and roll history. It seems every rock guitarist can play it to some degree. How about you? Anyway, the song blasted to #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1991 and 1992, shaking up the entire world of rock.
Never has alienation sounded so beautiful and brilliant as in Pink Floyd’s song “Wish You Were Here.” Even up to the 21st century this song is still popular as it’s been streamed over a million times on Spotify.
Doesn’t anybody hear the way acdc plays? Acdc created hard rock with a bluesy soul to the mix. Also, their music is clean and not distorted like Metallica. This is why I think I’m some cases ACDC can be underrated sometimes.
This list tries to include some of the greatest rock tunes ever, all of which are classics; that is, songs released before the year 2000. Also keep in mind it only includes mainstream rock and roll (and we all know what that is, right?) whether soft or hard rock, but certainly not pop, R&B, soul, funk, blues, hip-hop, disco, jazz, country, bluegrass or classical – just good ol’ rock and roll, period, okay?
Recently signed to Spinefarm/Universal, these British hard rockers release their debut album, Ain’t Always Easy, on March 2. Purveyors of the kind of riffy hard rock that worked so well for the likes of Black Stone Cherry, Stone Broken just might be one of the current crop of homegrown talent that make major progress in the coming year.
As we firmly move into the second half of 2017, the format ratings stories of the year are becoming clearer. As we’ve seen in the past few years, an odd demographic pattern has been forming around both the Classic Hits and Classic Rock formats in PPM markets:

The tritone, an interval spanning three whole tones—such as C to F#—was a forbidden dissonance in medieval ecclesiastical singing, which led monks to call it diabolus in musica—”the devil in music”.
Sure it may not be the best classic rock song but I’m voting for it because it’s the best Pink Floyd song. Pink Floyd is a great band and this song is their best. It’s the most popular song from the best selling album of all time! The reason why it’s such a great song is because the lyrics. The lyrics are the most beautiful thing you’ll ever hear. Forget that taylor swift bull! This is a well written song… The best written song of all time. Plus the instrumental in this song is amazing. I give Pink Floyd time to be at least top ten because Stairway to Heaven is a great song. Pink Floyd fan forever
