There are many layers to the opioid crisis, from the over-prescribing of prescription drugs to those who are helping their communities fight the epidemic.  You’ll find those stories and more in these four documentaries.

Many metal musicians when performing live engage in headbanging, which involves rhythmically beating time with the head, often emphasized by long hair. The il cornuto, or devil horns, hand gesture was popularized by vocalist Ronnie James Dio while with Black Sabbath and Dio.[44] Although Gene Simmons of Kiss claims to have been the first to make the gesture on the 1977 Love Gun album cover, there is speculation as to who started the phenomenon.[76]

They have the best ock songs like, we will rock you, we are the champions, bohemia radspody and anothers great songs, and who will ever forget the legendary freedie mercury, brian may, roger taylor and john deacon.

Anyone can cover another artist’s song, but few are able to take that song and truly make it their own. In the case of ‘All Along The Watchtower,’ there is no doubt that Jimi Hendrix most certainly turned the Bob Dylan composition into not only a Hendrix song, but into a true classic.

Even in terms of fan base, the two fan bases are close in a way, although the general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidal, depressed and a danger to themselves and society in general. However, Adrian North, a Heriot-Watt University professor who studies genre listeners found that metal listeners were above all else creative, at ease with themselves and introverted — qualities he also found in classical listeners.[53][54]

Although classic rock has mostly appealed to adult listeners, music associated with this format received more exposure with younger generations of listeners with the presence of the Internet and digital downloading.[3] Some classic rock stations also play a limited number of current releases which are stylistically consistent with the station’s sound, or by heritage acts that are still active and producing new music.[4]

In 1968, three of the genre’s most famous pioneers, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were founded.[4] Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. During the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre’s evolution by discarding much of its blues influence;[5][6] Motörhead introduced a punk rock sensibility and an increasing emphasis on speed. Beginning in the late 1970s, bands in the new wave of British heavy metal such as Iron Maiden and Saxon followed in a similar vein. Before the end of the decade, heavy metal fans became known as “metalheads” or “headbangers”.

In 1990, a review in Rolling Stone suggested retiring the term “heavy metal” as the genre was “ridiculously vague”.[201] The article stated that the term only fueled “misperceptions of rock & roll bigots who still assume that five bands as different as Ratt, Extreme, Anthrax, Danzig and Mother Love Bone” sound the same.[201]

Former Journey frontman Steve Perry famously walked away from his famous band for good in the late 1990s, and embarked on a brief solo career before becoming totally sidelined with a hip surgery. The “Faithfully” crooner has barely been seen on stage in the years since, with the exception of his surprising 2014 cameo at an Eels gig in Minnesota. Perry once said he got burnt out by the rock’n’ roll merry-go-round, so a comeback is unlikely, but we’d welcome him with open arms.

The era of metal’s mainstream dominance in North America came to an end in the early 1990s with the emergence of Nirvana and other grunge bands, signaling the popular breakthrough of alternative rock.[248] Grunge acts were influenced by the heavy metal sound, but rejected the excesses of the more popular metal bands, such as their “flashy and virtuosic solos” and “appearance-driven” MTV orientation.[198]

Death metal utilizes the speed and aggression of both thrash and hardcore, fused with lyrics preoccupied with Z-grade slasher movie violence and Satanism.[219] Death metal vocals are typically bleak, involving guttural “death growls”, high-pitched screaming, the “death rasp”,[220] and other uncommon techniques.[221] Complementing the deep, aggressive vocal style are downtuned, heavily distorted guitars[219][220] and extremely fast percussion, often with rapid double bass drumming and “wall of sound”–style blast beats. Frequent tempo and time signature changes and syncopation are also typical.[222]

Great mix. You won’t be disapointed. Heartbreaker was my favorite on the album. All of the songs are good though. I would really like to stress the word all. In my opinion these are not the best classic rock songs but it is a very good collection of some very good classic rock songs. It would be hard and possibly expensive to find and buy these songs individually here.some of these are the songs you think you don’t remember until they start. You will not be disappointed.

“Baby, What a Big Surprise”[92] “Brand New Love Affair, Part I & II”[93] “Colour My World”[94] “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”[95] “Hard Habit to Break”[96] “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”[92][94][96] “If You Leave Me Now”[3][4][12][30][94] “Make Me Smile”[95] “Saturday in the Park”[95] “Will You Still Love Me?”[96] “You’re the Inspiration”[92]

The lead role of the guitar in heavy metal often collides with the traditional “frontman” or bandleader role of the vocalist, creating a musical tension as the two “contend for dominance” in a spirit of “affectionate rivalry”.[8] Heavy metal “demands the subordination of the voice” to the overall sound of the band. Reflecting metal’s roots in the 1960s counterculture, an “explicit display of emotion” is required from the vocals as a sign of authenticity.[19] Critic Simon Frith claims that the metal singer’s “tone of voice” is more important than the lyrics.[20]

Released in 1991, this glam metal power ballad exemplifies what every relationship wants, a love that lasts forever. When we think of love, what do you we think of? Forever in my heart, I finally found a love of a lifetime.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a prime example of 1970s’ progressive rock. Written by vocalist/pianist Freddy Mercury and performed by Queen, the song is a six-minute suite, including an operatic passage, of all things, and multiple key and tempo changes, and may be the most original of all songs on this stellar list. Not surprisingly, after released, “Bohemian Rhapsody” hit the top of the UK Singles Chart, selling more than nine million copies and kicked butt in the US as well. Astonishingly, the song was re-released in 1992, after the death of Mercury, and did almost as well then. Then in 2004, “Bohemian Rhapsody” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. This awesome song is a prime example of the astonishing range of expression in rock and roll!

This was a pleasant surprise when it cropped up in our inbox. Professor And The Madman are a new band but the members are industry veterans: Alfie Agnew (Adolescents, D.I.), Sean Elliott (D.I., Mind Over Four), Rat Scabies (The Damned) and Paul Gray (The Damned, Eddie & The Hot Rods, UFO). So they’re a total punk band, peddling an aged, possibly low-rent brand of the music they made their names with, right?

Punk rock emerged in the mid-1970s as a reaction against contemporary social conditions as well as what was perceived as the overindulgent, overproduced rock music of the time, including heavy metal. Sales of heavy metal records declined sharply in the late 1970s in the face of punk, disco, and more mainstream rock.[177] With the major labels fixated on punk, many newer British heavy metal bands were inspired by the movement’s aggressive, high-energy sound and “lo-fi”, do it yourself ethos. Underground metal bands began putting out cheaply recorded releases independently to small, devoted audiences.[179]

So who defines the parameters of this seemingly genre-free category? It’s actually  you – the listener. Very little is played on classic rock stations without extensive market research to find a niche amongst their audience, and that’s how regional popularity will always trump age or genre in defining the musical category of classic rock. Read more here about the carefully crafted classic rock subset and how age alone isn’t the only thing that can make a song truly “classic.”

CLASSIC is exactly that! The Cream of The Crop. The All Time Favorites. The Greatest Hits All Time. I agree with Walter: Introduce NEW collections of Outstanding Music with Modern Curation, Presentation and Information. Sure beats the same old, same old…on the corner of Fresh & Familiar. Along with new sponsor presentation, it will fix some big signals with in-house resources. Thank you, Fred! Clark, Boston. http://www.broadcastideas.com
