“classic rock new music -best classic rock concerts”

I wondered when this would happen. LA would be the perfect launching pad for this look back at the 80’s. KROQ was a huge hit in that market playing thr Ramones, Pretenders, Sex Pistols etc. it was also a darn good radio experience with a staff of interesting radio personalities and a great sense of humor.

Written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, this is easily the greatest classic rock song of all time. The song opens with an acoustic-based folk intro and is highlighted by hard-edged rock music courtesy of Page’s intricate guitar work. Despite being never released as a single, it was the most requested song on the radio.

In the mid-1980s, the format’s widespread proliferation came on the heels of Jacobs Media’s (Fred Jacobs) success at WCXR, in Washington, D.C., and Edinborough Rand’s (Gary Guthrie) success at WZLX in Boston. Between Guthrie and Jacobs, they converted more than 40 major market radio stations to their individual brand of classic rock over the next several years.[11]

In addition to The Kinks’ Dave Davies, other guitarists such as The Who’s Pete Townshend and The Yardbirds’ Jeff Beck were experimenting with feedback.[113][114] Where the blues rock drumming style started out largely as simple shuffle beats on small kits, drummers began using a more muscular, complex, and amplified approach to match and be heard against the increasingly loud guitar.[115] Vocalists similarly modified their technique and increased their reliance on amplification, often becoming more stylized and dramatic. In terms of sheer volume, especially in live performance, The Who’s “bigger-louder-wall-of-Marshalls” approach was seminal.[116]

Yes deserves to be on this list because, like Queen, they were totally unique and very talented musically. Hard to believe bands like Motley Crue are above them. Any decent cover band can play a Motley Crue song as well as the original, but no one even attempts Yes songs because you have to be great musically.

Guns N’ Roses began their career with a bang. Their first single, “Welcome to the Jungle,” arrived on their debut album, Appetite for Destruction, and both kicked some serious tail. “Welcome to the Jungle,” a tune about the mean streets of Los Angeles, soon catapulted to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Appetite for Destruction eventually sold 30 million copies, the eleventh best-selling album in the US. And, in 2009, VH1 picked “Welcome to the Jungle” as the number one hard rock song of all time.

LINCOLN, NEB. – Bryce Neidig, the second longest serving president of Nebraska Farm Bureau, was remembered for being an articulate and popular president who was enthusiastic about the future of Farm Bureau and agriculture. Producing great music from the first minute, these guys took it to the limit! Made many legendary songs like Hotel California, Take It Easy, One Of These Nights etc. Etc. One of the best bands ever in rock, true legends!

The best song ever written bar none. This is because of how epic it is and how vast it is without ever getting boring. It is way better than Stairway to Heaven and any true Zeppelin fan will tell you that.

This song and “Stairway to Heaven” are usually competing neck-and-neck for the greatest classic song of all time. With operatic and hard-rock influences, as well as its iconic music video, “Bohemian Rhapsody” became one of the best-selling singles in the world by the time it was released, as well as growing to become a classic rock staple.

For the 91st issue (in April 2006), the magazine presented ‘The 100 Greatest British Rock Albums Ever’, which were voted for by Classic Rock staff and various people associated with rock music (including Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath fame, Lemmy of Motörhead and Francis Rossi of Status Quo). The magazine decided to let AC/DC be classed as a British act, although the band was formed in Australia. All of the band’s singers (Dave Evans, Bon Scott and Brian Johnson) and guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young are of UK descent. Led Zeppelin’s Led Zeppelin IV reached first place.

I swear as God as my witness, next to The Rolling Stones, this is one of the most overrated bands in the history of music! I would have to be in the best mood(as in I just got laid by Kate Upton) to give Aerosmith credit for 3 good songs (Ragdoll, Angel,& Dream On) And I’ll always have a chip on my shoulder with Aerosmith for committing the ultimate rock sin by doing that crossover crap with Run-DMC! Because of that, bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, & Linkin Park were born.

Never has alienation sounded so beautiful and brilliant as in Pink Floyd’s song “Wish You Were Here.” Even up to the 21st century this song is still popular as it’s been streamed over a million times on Spotify.

Journey may be widely loved or roundly hated, grossly underrated or quite overrated, but it’s undeniable that the group has been enjoying a remarkable career that has spanned for over three decades. Charismatic front man Steve Perry and his cohorts Neal Schone and Jonathan Cain wrote some of the best-known hits in the rock arena.

Mel, it’s all about what you were listening to back in high school or in your dorm room. If the music became part of the soundtrack of your life, you never let it go. For much of that Classic Alternative, exposure was spotty, situational, and market by market. Good to hear from you.
