This was a pleasant surprise when it cropped up in our inbox. Professor And The Madman are a new band but the members are industry veterans: Alfie Agnew (Adolescents, D.I.), Sean Elliott (D.I., Mind Over Four), Rat Scabies (The Damned) and Paul Gray (The Damned, Eddie & The Hot Rods, UFO). So they’re a total punk band, peddling an aged, possibly low-rent brand of the music they made their names with, right?
Hi All, if you planned on going to Frenchy’s Tavern in Roselle Park Friday January 5th to see the Memphis Rain Band, please call Frenchy’s first, because of bad weather our gig there maybe cancelled. Stay Warm and Safe!!! Memphis Rain Band
Although classic rock has mostly appealed to adult listeners, music associated with this format received more exposure with younger generations of listeners with the presence of the Internet and digital downloading. Some classic rock stations also play a limited number of current releases which are stylistically consistent with the station’s sound, or by heritage acts that are still active and producing new music.
Lincoln, Neb (KGFW) – Senators once again could not find common ground when it came to the state budget. With only 11 more scheduled days on the legislative calendar and many other issues still looming over the senators heads, it was thought that cooler heads would prevail and a budget would be passed. Governor Pete…

When it comes to an epic love song, there are a lot of things to look for and one of them is a story. Released in 1988, this song tells one of the best stories yet. “So tonight I’ll ask the stars above. How did I ever win your love? What did I do, what did I say? To turn your angel eyes my way?”
In January 1969, Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album was released and reached number 10 on the Billboard album chart. In July, Zeppelin and a power trio with a Cream-inspired, but cruder sound, Grand Funk Railroad, played the Atlanta Pop Festival. That same month, another Cream-rooted trio led by Leslie West released Mountain, an album filled with heavy blues rock guitar and roaring vocals. In August, the group—now itself dubbed Mountain—played an hour-long set at the Woodstock Festival, exposing the crowd of 300,000 people to the emerging sound of heavy metal. Mountain’s proto-metal or early heavy metal hit song “Mississippi Queen” from the album Climbing! is especially credited with paving the way for heavy metal and was one of the first heavy guitar songs to receive regular play on radio. In September 1969, the Beatles released the album Abbey Road containing the track “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” which has been credited as an early example of or influence on heavy metal or doom metal. In October 1969, British band High Tide debuted with the heavy, proto-metal album Sea Shanties.

Pink Floyd is a classic example of a band that made the astounding transformation from cult rock darlings to a world-famous rock act. Before achieving legendary rock status, Pink Floyd was founded by the offbeat genius Syd Barrett, primarily as a vehicle for his tripped-out inclinations that extended beyond music.
Seriously? Forty-seven? Why is this song at 47? This song belongs in the top 10. Amazing vocals, an unforgettable chorus, a memorable guitar solo, terrific all-around performance, and everything else required for a song for the ages. Why this song clocks in at 47 simply defies belief.
Over the years my taste in music has been redefined many times. It all came to a rest at Queen. The pure musicianship of every single member of this amazing band shows that they are the greatest band ever. Each member is credited for writing at least one #1 hit, even the bass and drummer. That is no surprise when you look at each one though. John Deacon has some of the most iconic bass lines ever. Roger Taylor with his intricate drum fills and an incredible voice which could have (and did) front a band of his own.
Critical relief efforts are still going on in Florida, Texas, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and elsewhere to recover from September’s series of hurricanes and earthquakes — and this week there’s a way for you to support those efforts just by listening to music!
If you’ve never heard of the band pictured at right*, 7 spins a week on a Classic Alternative station isn’t going to turn their music into high-testing big hits in 2017. It’s hard to create a groundswell of support for poorly exposed music that’s now 30+ years old.
Not every classic rock artist rocks until they drop. While the Rolling Stones embarked on a 50th anniversary tour last year, and Bob Seger is still riding out his fame as he approaches 70, some of classic rock music’s biggest stars bowed out well before their time. Here are five classic rock artists we haven’t heard from in a while, and wish would make a comeback.

Are you starting to believe that the writers for “The Simpsons” are from the future? I mean, how else can you explain them getting events correct years before they actually happen? “The Simpsons” have done it again by predicting the closure of Toys R Us way back in 2004. The episode was called “Marge vs…
These top classic rock bands were all hit-makers of their time and have rightfully earned a spot on this list of legends. Some of these famous bands have devoted followers decades after they called it quits (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd), some are considered icons of music (singers like Eric Clapton and bands like The Beatles, Queen), and some are even still touring (Rolling Stones, Aerosmith) despite the AARP status of their core members. These old school rock bands are still rocking, what have you done with your life?
The classic rock format evolved from AOR radio stations that were attempting to appeal to an older audience by including familiar songs of the past with current hits. In 1980, AOR radio station M105 in Cleveland began billing itself as “Cleveland’s Classic Rock,” playing a mix of rock music from the mid-1960s to the present. Similarly, WMET called itself “Chicago’s Classic Rock” in 1981. In 1982, radio consultant Lee Abrams developed the “Timeless Rock” format which combined contemporary AOR with rock hits from the 1960s and 1970s.
